2008-04-04 11:04 < g666RL> what does the ?127 mean
2008-04-04 11:05 < Mark_Ryan> try asking in #mediawiki
2008-04-04 11:05 < g666RL> yah they no help
2008-04-04 11:05 < Working_Cat> 127 = 42 + 85. 42 being The 42 and 85 being my roll number. Also my office phone number and also on my account number.
2008-04-04 11:06 < g666RL> omfukcing god
2008-04-04 11:06 < Fennec> roll number?
2008-04-04 11:06 * Fennec pictures a roll of toilet paper...
2008-04-04 11:06 < Working_Cat> That makes 127 being the answer to Life Universe Everything and basically anything else you can think of.
2008-04-04 11:06 < Working_Cat> Fennec: well, roll call... as in student ID number
2008-04-04 11:06 < g666RL> the359?
2008-04-04 11:07 < g666RL> that guy is racist mofo
2008-04-04 11:07 < g666RL> or was it the8428
2008-04-04 11:07 < g666RL> one of those
2008-04-04 11:07 < Working_Cat> The359 does exhibit racist tendencies sometimes.
2008-04-04 11:07 < g666RL> tendencies???
2008-04-04 11:07 < Working_Cat> what happ basically
2008-04-04 11:08 < g666RL> thats kinda apologist don't you think?
2008-04-04 11:08 < Working_Cat> g666RL: i dont exactly remember him saying something racist.
2008-04-04 11:08 < g666RL> lets not discuss it
2008-04-04 11:08 < g666RL> im ignoring him anyways
2008-04-04 11:09 < Working_Cat> you one of them minorities?
2008-04-04 11:09 < g666RL> im a girl
2008-04-04 11:09 < Working_Cat> well nevermind, you prolly arent in US anyways
2008-04-04 11:09 < g666RL> so?
2008-04-04 11:10 < g666RL> hes a german, right
2008-04-04 11:10 < Working_Cat> so the minority question does not hold.
2008-04-04 11:10 < Chetblong|away> NotACow: COFFEE
2008-04-04 11:10 < g666RL> does not hold?
2008-04-04 11:10 < Working_Cat> g666RL: i think hes from the us
2008-04-04 11:11 < g666RL> because im a white female from somewhere else i can't angry about racial discrimination in the usa? what kinda warped attitude is that?
2008-04-04 11:11 < Working_Cat> definition of "minority" changes from place to place, nation to nation.
2008-04-04 11:11 < Working_Cat> g666RL: i did not say you cant be angry
2008-04-04 11:11 < g666RL> it's soooooooo not about "definition"
2008-04-04 11:11 < Working_Cat> i was asking if you were minority.
2008-04-04 11:12 < Working_Cat> which is a question quite independent of racism as far as i know
2008-04-04 11:12 < g666RL> are you one of them suburbans whites who never saw a black person till the age of 15???
2008-04-04 11:12 < g666RL> ;)
2008-04-04 11:12 < Working_Cat> g666RL: actually, i never saw a black in person till ...lemme see... 22?
2008-04-04 11:12 < Rinn> My guess: g666RL is overreacting.
2008-04-04 11:12 < Chetblong|away> Working_Cat: :O
2008-04-04 11:12 < Working_Cat> Rinn: no points.
2008-04-04 11:13 < g666RL> yah typical male white answer, overreacting
2008-04-04 11:13 < Aqwis> Working_Cat, that's interesting O_o
2008-04-04 11:13 < Working_Cat> Rinn: is a female.
2008-04-04 11:13 < g666RL> or so you believe
2008-04-04 11:13 < Working_Cat> jeez g666RL chill for a moment.
2008-04-04 11:13 < g666RL> ok
2008-04-04 11:13 < Working_Cat> 1. i was just asking if ure minority, wrt USA. then i realized you might not be from here at all.
2008-04-04 11:14 < Working_Cat> SO... i said that may not be a relevant Q...
2008-04-04 11:14 < g666RL> it isnt
2008-04-04 11:14 < g666RL> glad u see that
2008-04-04 11:14 < Working_Cat> that had nothing to do with your accusing 356
2008-04-04 11:14 < g666RL> ok
2008-04-04 11:14 * Working_Cat feels like strangling g666RL... THAT WHAT I HAVE BEEN SAYING ALL THIS TIME
2008-04-04 11:15 < Working_Cat> and you have the nerve to tell ME "glad you see that"
2008-04-04 11:15 < g666RL> it just seems that you were implying that only us minorities could get angry about racism and stuff
2008-04-04 11:15 * g666RL feels strangled
2008-04-04 11:15 < Working_Cat> also, very assumptive of you to think im a white male.
2008-04-04 11:15 < g666RL> 95 percent of irc is white male, educated guess
2008-04-04 11:16 < Working_Cat> g666RL: minorities have a stronger reason to feel angry about it.
2008-04-04 11:16 < Working_Cat> well then g666RL, im in the top 5%
2008-04-04 11:16 < g666RL> :)
2008-04-04 11:16 < g666RL> yer a woman?
2008-04-04 11:16 < NotACow> moo
2008-04-04 11:16 < Working_Cat> no. minority.
2008-04-04 11:16 < NotACow> everyone in here is a woman
2008-04-04 11:17 < Demi> yep
2008-04-04 11:17 < NotACow> that, or gay
2008-04-04 11:17 < Arwen> I AM A GIRLY GIRL WITH G CUPS
2008-04-04 11:17 < NotACow> or both
2008-04-04 11:17 < g666RL> women are a minority
2008-04-04 11:17 < Working_Cat> also, im minority... depending on which demographic you take. but i dont fume at racism.
2008-04-04 11:17 < Arwen> MEET ME AND MY FELLOW FARM LADIES AT XXXHOT.COM
2008-04-04 11:17 < Arwen> wtf?
2008-04-04 11:17 < Working_Cat> Arwen: stfu
2008-04-04 11:17 < Demi> or a gay man and straight woman, sewn together, or sharing a pantomime horse costume (like me)
2008-04-04 11:17 < Working_Cat> Demi: >_<
2008-04-04 11:17 < g666RL> can we get a bull for NotAcow?
2008-04-04 11:18 < Working_Cat> g666RL: shes not into bulls
2008-04-04 11:18 < g666RL> she obvioously needs one ;)
2008-04-04 11:18 < g666RL> or anoutehr cow then
2008-04-04 11:18 < Working_Cat> g666RL: the main Q was... what did he do. and where are u from?
2008-04-04 11:18 < g666RL> :)
2008-04-04 11:18 < g666RL> fuggedaboudid
2008-04-04 11:18 < Rinn> He fugged a boudid? That bastard!
2008-04-04 11:19 < NotACow> boudids are rare
2008-04-04 11:19 < NotACow> you can't just go running around fugging them at random
2008-04-04 11:19 < Working_Cat> anti-racists would be a lot more effective if they didnt keep on judging people. (and im talking bout you judging me. not 356)
2008-04-04 11:19 < Demi> if we had some fuggers now, the u.s. economy might not be in such bad shape
2008-04-04 11:19 < Working_Cat> 359. whatever.
2008-04-04 11:19 < Working_Cat> Demi: go fug yourself.
2008-04-04 11:20 < Demi> i am an urinator!
2008-04-04 11:20 < Working_Cat> best way to save the economy.
2008-04-04 11:20 < g666RL> Working_Cat: thats like getting angry at rape victims for getting getting agitated about rapists
2008-04-04 11:20 < Demi> i wish shimgray were here, he would understand my references
2008-04-04 11:20 * Working_Cat rolls eyes
2008-04-04 11:20 < g666RL> Working_Cat: http://multiracial.com/site/component/option,com_mambook/Itemid,32/
2008-04-04 11:20 * Working_Cat gives g666RL +10 for a totally unfair comparison.
2008-04-04 11:20 < g666RL> Working_Cat: sorry
2008-04-04 11:20 < g666RL> ibb
2008-04-04 11:21 < Working_Cat> g666RL: dont be, you are just one step away from calling me a Nazi.
2008-04-04 11:21 < Aqwis> good, this discussion is about to end
2008-04-04 11:21 < Rinn> I will be the first to annoyingly interject with a line about Godwin's Law!
2008-04-04 11:22 < Demi> that's a passive-aggressive use of meta-godwin's law, though
2008-04-04 11:23 < g666RL> Working_Cat: rape is so much like racism they call it the same name in the usa now, hatecrime. and while i don't agree with a lot of us things, this does say something
2008-04-04 11:23 < g666RL> also hate crime kinda waters it down, but hey.
2008-04-04 11:23 < Rinn> Rape is like racism?
2008-04-04 11:24 < Demi> who's they? rape isn't a hate crime
2008-04-04 11:24 < Working_Cat> g666RL: imo, rapes arent hatecrimes. theyre kinda worse.
2008-04-04 11:24 < g666RL> idk
2008-04-04 11:24 < Demi> something is a hate crime when it's motivated by group hatred, whether it's murder or vandalism
2008-04-04 11:24 < g666RL> im all for the view that you cant weigh sorrow
2008-04-04 11:25 < Rinn> Rape typically has other motivations.
2008-04-04 11:25 * Working_Cat is begining to get some idea why g666RL was banned from wherever she was banned.
2008-04-04 11:25 < g666RL> or hurt cannot be compared
2008-04-04 11:25 < Working_Cat> yeah. 99% of time. there may be 1-2% which arent those reasons.
2008-04-04 11:26 < g666RL> from the victims viewpoint, its all the same i guess. it feels really bad
2008-04-04 11:26 < g666RL> both are very bad
2008-04-04 11:26 < Demi> no it's not "all the same". what a silly notion.
2008-04-04 11:27 < g666RL> and i don't think its useful to say this one is worse or that one
2008-04-04 11:27 < Demi> being murdered is the same as being called names? i don't think so.
2008-04-04 11:27 < g666RL> if you think racism is equal to being called names, your being silly
2008-04-04 11:27 < Demi> cake or death, hm? cake or death?
2008-04-04 11:27 < Demi> g666RL - "racism" isn't an act.
2008-04-04 11:27 < g666RL> lynching isnt an act
2008-04-04 11:28 < Rinn> No, I'm pretty sure "lynch" is a verb.
2008-04-04 11:28 < Demi> it... is, yes.
2008-04-04 11:28 < g666RL> getting refused for jobs isnt an act
2008-04-04 11:28 < Mark_Ryan> okay, this conversation is getting tiresome
2008-04-04 11:28 < g666RL> staring someone down, or out of the room isn't an act
2008-04-04 11:28 < Working_Cat> g666RL: those are not the only areas of racism.
2008-04-04 11:29 < g666RL> nah its getting political-ish and thats scary
2008-04-04 11:29 < Working_Cat> indians are racist as hell among themselves, but they dont deny employment and lynch indians from other parts. still, they are racist.
2008-04-04 11:29 < Demi> Mark_Ryan - i don't know... i feel we're really close to solving racism, here. just give us a few more minutes and we'll have it in the bag.
2008-04-04 11:29 < ggreer> I've got an idea, how about we leave sentencing up to judges. I'm sure they can give different sentences for different motives
2008-04-04 11:30 < Demi> ggreer is soft on crime
2008-04-04 11:30 < Mark_Ryan> g666RL: talking about rape and the nature of racism is not a political thing, it's something to waste your time while you're studying an arts degree
2008-04-04 11:30 < Demi> he'll never get elected
2008-04-04 11:30 < ggreer> heh
2008-04-04 11:30 < g666RL> Working_Cat: i don;t think indians not liking each other is equall to racism or anti-semitism or any of that
2008-04-04 11:30 < ggreer> g666RL: the person running that multiracial site is insane
2008-04-04 11:31 < ggreer> only crazy people use joomla
2008-04-04 11:31 < Working_Cat> g666RL: there we go... "fixing definitions"
2008-04-04 11:31 < Working_Cat> is it just me or is anyone seeing the debate inching ever closer to a disqualifying rule?
2008-04-04 11:31 < g666RL> are you talking about the caste system?
2008-04-04 11:31 < Demi> no true scotsmen, here: because they're all cheap drunks.
2008-04-04 11:32 < ggreer> nice reference
2008-04-04 11:32 < nsh-> a cheap drunk _is_ a true scotsman
2008-04-04 11:32 < Mark_Ryan> I can't believe Gordon Ramsay is scottish
2008-04-04 11:32 < Mark_Ryan> he sounds english
2008-04-04 11:32 < g666RL> always thought those were irish
2008-04-04 11:33 < Demi> "footballer" sounds like a hardcore fetishist.
2008-04-04 11:33 < NotACow> Demi: ow
2008-04-04 11:36 < Working_Cat> g666RL: thats casteism, not racism.
2008-04-04 11:36 < g666RL> Working_Cat: so whats your solution then, don't piss off the whites cos they will lynch you?
2008-04-04 11:37 < g666RL> dont accuse them of racism coz that will make em feel bad?
2008-04-04 11:37 < Working_Cat> g666RL: sweet conclusion! i wonder what i said to make you come to that.
2008-04-04 11:37 < g666RL> something u said?
2008-04-04 11:37 < Working_Cat> heh
2008-04-04 11:38 < Working_Cat> i just said being racist isnt the same as lynching/denying employment.
2008-04-04 11:38 < Demi> i know as a white male i really enjoy it when Working_Cat shines my shoes and is stereotypically deferential
2008-04-04 11:38 < Working_Cat> Shining your shoes perfectly is my life's purpose, master Demi.
2008-04-04 11:39 < g666RL> Working_Cat> also, im minority... depending on which demographic you take. but i dont fume at racism.
2008-04-04 11:39 < g666RL> i might've
2008-04-04 11:39 < Working_Cat> i didnt get the "stereotypically deferential" part.
2008-04-04 11:39 < Vike91> anyone here from new zealand?
2008-04-04 11:39 < Demi> well, ideally you would call me "massa", but you did a pretty fair job there
2008-04-04 11:39 < Working_Cat> g666RL: i meant, as im not discriminated against in some substantial way.
2008-04-04 11:40 < g666RL> Working_Cat: explain?
2008-04-04 11:40 < Working_Cat> *as long as im not...
2008-04-04 11:40 < g666RL> ah
2008-04-04 11:40 < Working_Cat> im a selfish prock that way
2008-04-04 11:40 < g666RL> yes u r
2008-04-04 11:40 < g666RL> sorry
2008-04-04 11:41 < Working_Cat> heh, u'd have seen that anyways, its sewn on my sleeves.
2008-04-04 11:41 < g666RL> isn't that like: "when they rounded up the gays, i didnt protest, because im not gay" ??
2008-04-04 11:41 < Working_Cat> right under the star.
2008-04-04 11:41 < g666RL> etc
2008-04-04 11:42 < Working_Cat> g666RL: im kinda homophobic, but i still feel put off when gays are discriminated against.
2008-04-04 11:42 < g666RL> and: "when they rounded up the gays, i didnt protest, because im not gay" "when they rounded up the jews, i didnt protest, because im not jew" ????
2008-04-04 11:42 < Working_Cat> i just dont feel the same towards racism somehow.
2008-04-04 11:42 < g666RL> "when they came for me there was no one left" ?
2008-04-04 11:42 < Working_Cat> g666RL: .... jussssst one inch away.....
2008-04-04 11:43 < g666RL> this is a very famous poem, this you see a grounds for banning me?
2008-04-04 11:43 < Working_Cat> g666RL: that may have to do with my not really seeing any great discrimination openly
2008-04-04 11:44 < g666RL> my speaking out against racism upsets you?
2008-04-04 11:44 < Working_Cat> g666RL: not banning you. i said you are an inch away from meeting that guy godwin.
2008-04-04 11:44 * Working_Cat facepalms...
2008-04-04 11:44 < g666RL> who s that?
2008-04-04 11:44 * NotACow bans g666RL
2008-04-04 11:44 * NotACow bans Working_Cat too
2008-04-04 11:44 < Working_Cat> and to think i started out trying to LISTEN to what she had to say.
2008-04-04 11:44 < Working_Cat> NotACow: moo
2008-04-04 11:45 * NotACow unbans Working_Cat for having such a melodious moo
2008-04-04 11:45 < NotACow> sing for me some more, baby
2008-04-04 11:45 < Working_Cat> i guess thats a reason why some people dont like 'activists' .... they end up getting accused when they try to support.
2008-04-04 11:45 * Working_Cat moos some more.
2008-04-04 11:46 < Demi> see, this kind of grief is why i stick to *white* slavery
2008-04-04 11:46 < NotACow> Demi: heh
2008-04-04 11:46 < g666RL> this is the poem: "In Germany, they came first for the Communists, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist; And then they came for the trade unionists, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist; And then they came for the Jews, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew; And then . . . they came for me . . . And by that time there was no one left to...
2008-04-04 11:46 < g666RL> ...speak up."
2008-04-04 11:47 < NotACow> g666RL: you've invoked nazis.
2008-04-04 11:47 < g666RL> go here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_they_came...
2008-04-04 11:47 < NotACow> g666RL: that's generally not a good idea, on the internet.
2008-04-04 11:47 < g666RL> oh that godwin
2008-04-04 11:50 < g666RL> Working_Cat: afaik you admit freely to indifference, as long as you don't get discriminated against, you don't care about racism, towards others, with some exception when its about gays, even if you're homophobic? I think that is not a good attitude to have and it will back fire to you. Correct if im wrong
2008-04-04 11:50 < Working_Cat> g666RL: i've read that. and there have been times when i used that.
2008-04-04 11:50 < g666RL> the poem?
2008-04-04 11:51 < g666RL> or the indifference
2008-04-04 11:51 < Working_Cat> g666RL: i suppose you didnt bother to read what i said after that.
2008-04-04 11:51 < g666RL> i think i did
2008-04-04 11:51 < Working_Cat> "maybe because i did not see a lot of discrimination based on race"
2008-04-04 11:51 < Working_Cat> and by that, i mean in general.
2008-04-04 11:52 < g666RL> hmmm i do
2008-04-04 11:52 < Working_Cat> either that, or its hidden beneath surface. which i admit im not too good at detecting.
2008-04-04 11:52 < g666RL> its not a nice to detect
2008-04-04 11:52 < Working_Cat> as compared to that, i see a lot of hatred against gays and muslims.
2008-04-04 11:52 < g666RL> its not a nice THING to detect
2008-04-04 11:52 < g666RL> which is the same in my book
2008-04-04 11:52 < g666RL> or jews
2008-04-04 11:53 < g666RL> or against jews
2008-04-04 11:53 < NotACow> gay muslims?
2008-04-04 11:53 < g666RL> sux 2 b them, for sure
2008-04-04 11:53 < g666RL> lesbian black muslims
2008-04-04 11:53 < g666RL> even more
2008-04-04 11:53 < Working_Cat> even though im not really a fan of muslims, or their leaders (who i think are d'bags), im not too pleased when some muslim individual is discriminated against/killed.
2008-04-04 11:53 < NotACow> i'm not sure i hate myself enough to be gay
2008-04-04 11:53 < Fennec> Jewish muslims.
2008-04-04 11:54 < g666RL> Fennec: those really exist
2008-04-04 11:54 < g666RL> not a lot
2008-04-04 11:54 < g666RL> but they do
2008-04-04 11:54 < Working_Cat> though from wht i've seen these days, people try SO hard to be politically correct, a lesbian black muslim would mean an instant ticket to promotion
2008-04-04 11:54 < g666RL> yah thats what they WANT you to think
2008-04-04 11:54 < Working_Cat> NotACow: i thought you had a 300 pound gf
2008-04-04 11:55 < Working_Cat> g666RL: im not too interested in digging the surface as long as no one is getting killed/hurt.
2008-04-04 11:55 < Working_Cat> the
2008-04-04 11:55 < g666RL> " NotACow> i'm not sure i hate myself enough to be gay " NotACow> i'm not sure i fully understand this sentence or if there is logic to be understood ;)
2008-04-04 11:55 < Working_Cat> the "not getting promoted" part does not bother me.,
2008-04-04 11:56 < Working_Cat> anyways, im off for lunch. am i a bigot if i like to eat food thats typical to my culture?
2008-04-04 11:56 < Working_Cat> bonus points for 'correctly' answering that one.
2008-04-04 11:57 < g666RL> Working_Cat: it;s like this: Affimative action tries to corrrect a wrong, but whites all over act as if it gives a group of people already handicapped an unfair advantage, as if we had an equal starting position, while in fact we had not
2008-04-04 11:57 < Working_Cat> g666RL: also, i dont like chinese at all, but if im running a business/part of it, i'd totally hire a chinese guy/gal if he/she was better qualified.
2008-04-04 11:57 < g666RL> eating food is based on taste buds
2008-04-04 11:58 < Working_Cat> g666RL: "eating food is based on taste buds" you disappoint me.
2008-04-04 11:58 < NotACow> DEATH TO FOOD

2008-04-04 11:59 < g666RL> the amazing thing is of course that us whites have convinced us blacks that affirmative action is unfair to whites
2008-04-04 12:00 < g666RL> actually that's not only so in the usa, in europe as well
2008-04-04 12:00 < NotACow> it is unfair
2008-04-04 12:00 < NotACow> but sometimes being unfair is fair
2008-04-04 12:00 < g666RL> yeah right
2008-04-04 12:00 < NotACow> ignorance is knowledge

2008-04-04 14:36 < ThePolecat> "to form a more perfect union"
2008-04-04 14:37 < Messedrocker> establish justice
2008-04-04 14:37 < Messedrocker> and to ensure domestic tranquility?
2008-04-04 14:37 < bumm13> some trees in ALTTP have bombs in their "noses"
2008-04-04 14:37 < ThePolecat> establish a more-100% justice and ensure a more complete domestic tranquility
2008-04-04 14:37 < bumm13> perhaps that makes them evil
2008-04-04 14:38 < Messedrocker> actually "more perfect" means "even better than before"
2008-04-04 14:38 < ThePolecat> okay, the first doesn't work, but absolutes come in shades all the time
2008-04-04 14:38 < gwern> are there any license gurus around? http://hpaste.org/6818 <-- is this Free?
2008-04-04 14:38 < Messedrocker> the "perfect" in "more perfect" is relative
2008-04-04 14:38 < Messedrocker> which isn't common
2008-04-04 14:38 < Messedrocker> maybe it was in the 18th century
2008-04-04 14:39 < ShakespeareFan00> This make me sick - http://www.prwatch.org/node/7158 - bush adminstration considered using fair-game

2008-04-04 15:26 < ThePolecat> AAH
2008-04-04 15:26 < ThePolecat> too many people referred to by their first name in WP articles
2008-04-04 15:28 < Demi> any = too many
2008-04-04 15:28 < Messedrocker> unless it's Saddam Hussein'
2008-04-04 15:29 < Messedrocker> because Hussein is not his last name
2008-04-04 15:29 < ThePolecat> "The impact of Gardner's testimony started Jerry's search through the Bible for answers."
2008-04-04 15:29 < Messedrocker> JERRY'S?

2008-04-04 15:31 < ShakespeareFan00> Demi: Pay the MAFIAA a lot of money?
2008-04-04 15:37 < Ceiling_Cat> Rosemary potatoes now cooling, marinated chicken in the oven
2008-04-04 15:37 < Ceiling_Cat> mmmmmm mmmmmmm
2008-04-04 15:39 < Ceiling_Cat> MOAR KATZ?
2008-04-04 15:40 < nsh-> CDM: colour me dubious
2008-04-04 15:41 < ThePolecat> heh
2008-04-04 15:41 < ThePolecat> I once listened to a radio show where a woman purported to make "chicken in a Provencal style"
2008-04-04 15:42 < ThePolecat> but she said "chicken in a provincial style"
2008-04-04 15:42 < ThePolecat> "provincial" in German means something between "backwater" and "hillbilly"
2008-04-04 15:43 < nsh-> Provencal in english means something that i don't know
2008-04-04 15:43 < nsh-> i suspect doesn't exist
2008-04-04 15:43 < nsh-> *and
2008-04-04 15:43 < ThePolecat> it's the adjective relating to the Provence region of France.
2008-04-04 15:43 < Cyrius> "Fine Arts. noting or pertaining to the styles of architecture, furniture, etc., found in the provinces, esp. when imitating styles currently or formerly in fashion in or around the capital:"
2008-04-04 15:44 < ThePolecat> which of course means "province" as well
2008-04-04 15:44 < ThePolecat> was still funny
2008-04-04 15:44 < Demi> "canadian style"
2008-04-04 15:44 < bumm13> provincial is almost a euphemism
2008-04-04 15:45 < bumm13> haha
2008-04-04 15:45 < Cyrius> I think rustic would be the best synonym here
2008-04-04 15:45 < ThePolecat> well no
2008-04-04 15:45 < Demi> it depends what it's being applied to
2008-04-04 15:45 < ThePolecat> Oh, in arts
2008-04-04 15:45 < bumm13> hiya Demi
2008-04-04 15:45 < ThePolecat> yea
2008-04-04 15:45 < Demi> hi bumm13
2008-04-04 15:45 < Cyrius> demi: chicken in a provincial style =)
2008-04-04 15:45 * bumm13 NP: Hawkwind - Lord of Light (1972)
2008-04-04 15:45 < ThePolecat> in German it conjures up images of tidy and boring market towns.
2008-04-04 15:45 < Demi> or "provincial bacon--the round kind"
2008-04-04 15:46 < bumm13> strangely, vocalist Dave Brock almost sounds like Ozzy in this song
2008-04-04 15:46 < ThePolecat> "provinziell" state of mind is a narrow and unimaginative world view
2008-04-04 15:46 < bumm13> and......Lemmy! \o/
2008-04-04 15:46 < Cyrius> ThePolecat: yes, but that hardly has anything to do with cooking
2008-04-04 15:46 < nsh-> dark matter doesn't exist.
2008-04-04 15:46 < Demi> yes, that's what you would understand in english if you applied it to people rather than chicken
2008-04-04 15:46 < nsh-> unless it does
2008-04-04 15:46 < nsh-> but it probably doesn't
2008-04-04 15:46 < ThePolecat> It means "no fancy spices" or something
2008-04-04 15:47 < bumm13> like salt
2008-04-04 15:47 < ThePolecat> Well, salt is allowed I spose.
2008-04-04 15:47 < bumm13> heh
2008-04-04 15:47 < Cyrius> simple country spices
2008-04-04 15:47 < Cyrius> like rosemary
2008-04-04 15:47 < Demi> you provincials and your unsophisticated palates; i enjoy food on a much deeper level than you.
2008-04-04 15:47 < Cyrius> no fancy techniques
2008-04-04 15:47 < bumm13> from the simpler parts of Indonesia
2008-04-04 15:47 < ThePolecat> provinziell is also used when a large, urban entity runs its business as if it were a rural one
2008-04-04 15:47 < Cyrius> no spending 3 days making demi glace
2008-04-04 15:48 < Demi> yeah, i hate being made to glace
2008-04-04 15:48 < ThePolecat> Rustic oyster soufflé on mama's favorite lobster
2008-04-04 15:49 < Demi> NO FOAMS
2008-04-04 15:49 < ThePolecat> DEATH TO BUBBLES
2008-04-04 15:49 * Demi had a very tasty lunch
2008-04-04 15:49 < Nuskrad> Where is it I report sites using Wikipedia content in violation of the GFDL?
2008-04-04 15:49 * ThePolecat once read a Bocuse cookbook
2008-04-04 15:49 < ThePolecat> there were directions like "Take a nice lamb..."
2008-04-04 15:50 < Demi> they mean a narrow, accurate lamb
2008-04-04 15:50 < ThePolecat> or like Bob Ross "a happy little lamb"
2008-04-04 15:50 < bumm13> Bob Ross always had a fro
